A Dedicated High Performance PHE for District Cooling (DC)

The New SX series has been developed as the most suitable PHE corresponding to larger temperature change of up to 10°C than conventional temperature change of 5 to 7°C due to a more excellent plate patterns than ordinary plates.

The New SX Series utilizes a closed water circulation system providing for the large temperature change operations (high NTU) shown in Fig. 1, and constituting a ground-breaking product series that demonstrates a excellent performance in applications involving heat recovery of extremely small temperature difference. Additionally, the New SX series can save energy and costs to the entire system due to the optimal operation for low flow rate with large temperature change as shown in Fig. 2. Considering operation under the temperature program shown in Fig. 1 with a 500 refrigeration tons, a 5 oC temperature change and a flow rate 300m3/h. Changing a temperature change of 10oC as shown in Fig. 2 would result in reducing the flow rate by one half to 150m3/h, increasing the NTU from 5 to 10 although the heat load remains the same. Decreasing the flow rate results in a massive reduction of initial and running costs of the plants.

The reduced flow rate as shown in the table below allows for the use of smaller size piping, and this results in not only reduced piping costs but also decreased amount of insulation material used and provides reducing pumping energy as another benefit.

Also by reducing the flow rate, one can expect to reduce in user-side fan energy and duct size. The SX Series, which enables optimal design under temperature programs with NTU 50 to 10, simultaneously achieves an excellent heat recovery performance and compactness.

And it contributes to energy saving and reduced initial and running costs in many applications as DC, ice storage system and free cooling.
